Christmas

Since the first Christmas was so beautiful, we celebrated together again with my mother. Being the base of the entire family, my mother's apartment is simply best suited for family celebrations.

Have been living together for a year, I took care of our own Christmas decoration. For Jennifer it was already a Christmas present that she didn't have to build up and dismantle.

Loving our togetherness, we divided this Christmas: Christmas Eve we spent with my mother, first Christmas Day we reserved for ourselves and the second day was for friends.

Again, the women spent the whole day in the kitchen, so that in the evening a nice meal could be served. I therefore occupied myself again with the Christmas decorations and placed the gifts nicely under the fir tree.

My mother is an extremely good cook, especially when it comes to Turkish food. We also wanted to prepare a German dish this time: dumplings, red cabbage and roast beef. But since none of us had prepared these dishes before, this was unfortunately a total failure. Luckily on such occasions, my mother always cooks for a whole army, so we still had enough to feast on.

Once more, it was a very nice Christmas, exactly what you can wish for: The Family meets in peace and harmony and it feels warm.

I like Christmas especially because I’m allowed to give my family presents. On Christmas there are always gifts, especially for children. So, I don’t have to restrain myself about buying presents. There are enough children in my kinship, but the adults get something too. Jennifer usually hits the panic button easily when she sees how much I like to spend for presents, except on Christmas, there's only one overall budget that limits me. My sister is also married and has 3 children who visit her grandma on Christmas. Therefore, the gifts for the children, my sister and her husband are always stowed at my mother’s under the fir tree. The remaining gifts are then sent by post.

After a long day in the kitchen, my mother and Jennifer had once again prepared a nice meal and we concluded the evening, just like the Christmas before, with a game. Good food, a fun game and of course the unpacking of the gifts, but especially the coming together of the family, once again made this Christmas something very special.
