Castle Frankenstein

To be at Castle Frankenstein is probably scary enough, if you look at all the myths surrounding this castle. But then to go there on Halloween, through the bleak dark gardens of the castle, certainly requires a high level of courage.

Halloween is Jennifer's favorite holiday, so she was more than thrilled when I made her the suggestion to celebrate Halloween at Castle Frankenstein. We went as a double pair again, because four can party better than two.

We had ordered everything online again: tickets for the castle and our costumes, which also worked out smoothly. I had decided to go as the Lord of Darkness and Jennifer went as a vampire.

Our friends had masked themselves as Death and Dark Angel. Since we all wanted to drink that evening, we used the public transportations and probably entertained the whole train and received 1-2 compliments.

The castle wasn’t so easy to reach. On Halloween, the coordinators organize commuter buses between the station and the castle, which are over-crowded. Since we don't like being hustled or crushed, we decided to take a cab.

We can only say that the organizers are really trying to create a cool Halloween. In the evening, when the gates open, the alleys and aisles look pretty scary due to the fog and creepy decoration. But the animators also work hard to deliver a good show. Most of all, most of them are really flexible. The horror clown first wanted to scare me, but as the Lord of Darkness I incited Death with his scythe to him 😉 the performer also played along nicely:

If you walk through the alleys around the castle, you will be frightened by other scary creatures and chased for a short distance, which keeps the adrenaline level up. But don't forget that it’s an old castle, so the ground is not paved. In case of rain it can get muddy quickly, so it’s best not to wear fancy shoes. Our women got stuck with their high heels once in a while.

If you are looking for some real food, this is the wrong place.

TIP: eat beforehand properly!

On the other hand, alcohol and snacks are available. Wooden tables and benches are placed on one site of the area, so that you can sit down. For us it looked like a beer garden with horror figures.

We didn’t go in the castle itself because of the massive crowd. On the property outside the people can still scatter, but already at the entrance gate there was a long line, so that we lost interest in going inside.

If you want to have a scary Halloween experience, we can only recommend a visit to Castle Frankenstein. There is a splendid horror atmosphere, which is also maintained by the performers. The whole team is doing a very good job at offering a great Halloween.
